Knives Are Important

Kitchen knives are one of the most important tools any cook will use, because they’re needed for just about any meal that’s ever prepared. They make a difference in how well anything cooks, because the shape affects how effectively heat transfers throughout the food – some foods like blowfish even depend on being cut the right way in order to be safe to eat.

Obviously, most foods aren’t that delicate to prepare, but they still need to be worked with the right kitchen knives in order to get the best results. One shouldn’t use a butter knife to cut steak, for instance. Steak knives can be used in preparing fruit, but they won’t do nearly as good a job as a paring or peeling knife would for the same task.

There are some kitchen knives that only have a single use, such as cleavers and oyster knives, and there are some that have wide ranging uses. In all cases, it’s important to know what each one is good for and what’s beyond its ability. That’s what will distinguish a great chef from someone who can only get by in the kitchen.

Every kitchen needs a good set of knives that offer a wide range of different uses. That makes it possible to fix more than just the simples meals – the ones that take practically no effort and are only so-so as a result. Having enough blades to serve many different purposes makes it possible to fix all kinds of creations that everyone will love to eat.
